Fall Release is now live!

The 2020 vintage has all been tucked safely into barrels and my thoughts are beginning to turn to some of the finer things in life: roast chicken, books on the sofa, lazy winter afternoons, and the new Devium Releases!

The three wines in this release absolutely epitomize Devium: vibrant, textural, elegant, unexpected, and just a little bit wild. For this release, I am offering flat rate $10 shipping on 6+ bottles and 10% off and shipping included on 12+. I still have some of my Spring release red wines available, so feel free to include those in your order to make up a case if you wish. Now, on to the wine!

2019 Lewis Peak Vineyard Riesling

The inaugural 2019 vintage from Lewis Peak produced two of my favorite wines of the year: first there was the Malbec Pet Nat and now we have the 2019 Lewis Peak Riesling. This wine is so focused, so food friendly and just pure bottled electricity. I highly recommend snagging some bottles to drink through the holidays, but also make sure you have some to lay down in the cellar, it will likely live forever. This wine, with its small amount of residual sugar balancing the acid, might be a one off as my goal for Lewis Peak is to create bone dry Riesling and sparkling going forward. If indeed this is a one-time wine, don’t miss it. EXTREMELY LIMITED.

2019 WeatherEye Vineyard Roussanne

Another new wine from 2019 is my WeatherEye Vineyard Roussanne. These grapes are grown on the north slope of Red Mountain and experience much cooler summertime temperatures and significantly less sunlight than Red Mountain proper. This allows me to hang the grapes into September for more development while still being able to make a 13% alcohol wine. If this block were south facing, I would likely be picking in mid-August, and I hate harvesting fruit in August. The resulting wine is a study in texture. When the grapes arrived at the winery, I foot crushed them and allowed the juice, skins, and stems to macerate for about a week before pressing it into old French oak barrels for fermentation. This Roussanne is unlike any other in Washington: textural, low alcohol, and unexpected. ALSO LIMITED.

2019 French Creek Mourvèdre “Sans Soufre”

Finally, we have the 2019 French Creek Mourvèdre “Sans Soufre”! Until June, I had no intention of bottling my “Sans Soufre” barrels by themselves. I didn’t find that the wine had as much personality as I am looking for to create this special bottling. However, after tasting the wine at the last minute when the decision had to be made, I was blown away. The transformation that it underwent over the course of its time in old barrels was tremendous. This wine is packed full of personality: lithe, fresh and more than a little bit wild, drink this one at Thanksgiving because its perfect. I am sounding like a broken record now, but this wine is ALSO VERY LIMITED.

I will have these three releases and more open for the traditional Fall release weekend in Walla Walla, Friday November 6th & Saturday November 7th from 12-5 each day. This tasting will be hosted in front of the production facility at Sleight of Hand Cellars, 1959 JB George RD. There is plenty of space for social distancing. The tasting will be covered, but outdoors, so please dress appropriately. I hope to see as many of you there as possible!

I am also always available for tastings by appointment, so if you are headed to Walla Walla at any time, just drop me a note at keith@deviumwine.com or 541-310-0317 and I would be happy to host you.
